The Battle of Lansdown

Congratulations to the Upper House Year 13 pupils who completed the Battle of Lansdown Extreme Event today.

Interland Orienteering Competition

Lucy Tonge and Mrs Hallett were selected to run for England in the Interland Orienteering competition which is a match between Belgium, The Netherlands, Northern France, Germany and England. This year it was held at Herperduin in the Netherlands. The area was therefore generally flat with a network of paths and only very small contour features except for a large bank of earth at the start on which the early controls were to be found.  This feature was much favoured by the many mountain bikers in the area. Lucy completed her 6.8 km course in 59.29 minutes, finishing 7^th  a good result as she was running in an age group above her actual age.  Mrs Hallett completed her 4.0 km course in 35.33 minutes and, despite making a route choice error early on when put off by mountain bikers, managed to win her course.

Ten Tors Training - Marlborough Downs

Ten Tors training continued with a very successful visit to the Marlborough Downs.  In beautiful sunshine the two Year 10 groups completed their 17 mile routes in very good time whilst the two 6^th form groups pushed on for an additional 4 miles to complete their 21 mile routes.  All of the pupils impressed once again with their good walking pace and navigational skills.
